Why the first day of showing of films in the Philippines is always Wednesday?
27 December 2017 Dear Mr. Jonathan Ladra: Greetings from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB)! Thank you for your request dated 20 December 2017 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. As stated in your request, you asked why the first day of showing of films in the Philippines is always on a Wednesday. While our aim is to provide assistance, in this instance, the information requested is not within the ambit of MTRCB’s jurisdiction. The Agency is mandated to review and classify films, TV programs and publicity materials. Your query about the first day of showing on a Wednesday is purely an industry-driven prerogative. What MTRCB ensures is that the films and publicity materials exhibited in the cinemas have their corresponding permits. We trust that you are guided accordingly. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further clarification. For further assistance you may review the FAQ section of the eFOI site: https://www.foi.gov.ph/help. Thank you and have a blessed day. Very truly yours, MARIA DIANA D. SABADO FOI Receiving Officer
