Dear Ms. Salvador:
Thank you for responding to our clarification. Your FOI request has been approved.
Upon checking with the appropriate units, hereunder are the requested data:
1. On the question, "What is the current population in CDC?"
Based on available info on hand which is the total number of workers, as of
31 January 2020, there are 137,591 workers in Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ).
2. On the question, "Is international tourism still encouraged despite current
epidemic?"
Yes, at least from the countries not covered by the travel bans issued by the
Office of the President.
Now more than ever, considering that China and Korea, ranks number 1 and
number 2, respectively, in foreign tourist arrival, the country or Clark in
particular, needs to do more aggressive promotions to encourage other
tourist source markets to visit the Philippines/Clark.
Parallel to the strengthening of promotions to encourage other markets to
visit us, government/Clark should take the lead of the Department of Tourism
to further strengthen domestic tourism, get Filipinos to travel to help the
tourism industry and the economy as a whole.
3. On the question, "What is the number of locals who check-in hotels?"
January 2020 partial data from our tourism-related establishments, such as
hotels and theme parks, shows that, Clark at least for now has not felt the
effects of Covid-19, in fact in January, a slight increase in overnight guests
versus January 2019 (33,322 vs 40,215) was recorded.
Overnight Guests Data (January 2020):
Philippines/Local Market - 15,679
Other Nationalities - 24,536
