Dear Maricar Piedad,
Greetings!
Thank you for your request dated Jan 12, 2023 11:55:25 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
Your Request
You asked for Total Number of Health Workers in the Philippines.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved.
Below are the responses to your request
1. Total number of healthcare workers in the Philippines (per type, per contract status, per type of facility, per region)
- May we respectfully refer our eFOI client to the DOH HRH Statistics through the PowerBI dashboard http://bit.ly/HRHStat-2022, for HRH information from the years 2016 to June 2022. The said platform readily provides data on the distribution of selected health professionals reporting in private and public health facilities in the health sector.
2. Latest report on the disbursement of Special Risk Allowance for HCWs (number of recipients, amount disbursed, monthly and regional distribution)
- As of 13 January 2023, the Department of Health already disbursed SRA funds amounting to Php 9,662,052,130.42 to eligible 569,977 health care workers
3. Latest report on the Emergency hiring of HCWs for COVID-19 response (number of hired HCWs, number of available positions, etc.)
- With regard to the latest report on the Emergency Hiring in response to COVID-19, as of 29 December 2022, there were 3,273 hired human resources for health (HRH). However, per Department Circular No. 2022-0638 entitled "Augmentation of Human Resources for Health under Emergency Hiring in Response to COVID-19 for Fiscal Year 2023", the Department of Health no longer extends the hired HRH under Emergency Hiring whose contracts expired on 31 December 2022
