You requested information on the following data for academic research, specifically for a Thesis Proposal on the Home for the Aged in Cavite: (1) Details on the population of Senior Citizen in every municipality of Cavite – male/female; (2) Details of the admitted Indigent Senior Citizen in Cavite; (3) Details on the statistics of Senior Citizen that is in need of home for the aged; (4) Number of available Home for the Aged in Cavite and its capacity; (5) Background of the Senior Citizen – Illness, Culture, Family; and (6) Possible government lands/sites that can be used for a proposed Nursing Home for the Elderly/Nursing Home for the Elderly with other age group in Cavite.
Response to your request
The DSWD only has limited information, specifically on those abandoned and indigent senior citizens residing in its centers and institutions. Thus, we shall partially grant your request on numbers (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5) and we shall refer your request with respect to this matter to the proper DSWD office. We shall send it to the e-mail address you provided once we have received the response from the office responsible.
For complete data on (1) and (3), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) may have the data you require. Under Republic Act 10625 (the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”), the PSA is the government agency responsible for preparing and conducting periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PSA by submitting a request to the PSA via this portal. For additional data on (1), (2), (3), (5) and (6), you may also try to contact the LGUs of Cavite (Province and Municipalities). They may have a more complete and comprehensive data regarding your request.
Your right to request a review
If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Secretary ROLANDO JOSELITO D. BAUTISTA at DSWD-Central Office, IBP Road Batasan Pambansa Complex, Constitution Hills, Quezon City. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date when we receive your review request.
If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
