Dear Ma’am/Sir,
Good day! In accordance to the requirements sent by the FOI Receiving Office regarding my request for specific data collection from the Department of Education (DepEd), written below is the Abstract of my study, the purpose of my study and the intended output of my project.
Title of Thesis: Forecasting the cases of Teenage Pregnancy in the Philippines using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA)
ABSTRACT and Purpose of the Study
I am Ivy A. Ramos, a third-year college student at the University of Santo Tomas. I am currently taking BS Applied Mathematics major in Actuarial Science. I am in the process of writing my Thesis Paper for academic requirements. The topic of my thesis is about forecasting the cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines. Since I am a Mathematics Major, I am to set up a quantitative analysis regarding the cases of teenage pregnancy in our country. To achieve that, I am to use a statistical method called ARIMA to forecast the cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines.
I wish to conduct this study because I believe that I may be able to provide an in-depth correlation between the cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines and the factors causing this. By providing a quantitative analysis regarding this topic, this study will target not just teenagers but also to provide insight to parents about the factors that truly affect the cause of spike in adolescent birth rate. And also, in hopes of spreading awareness to the general public and for possible public health interventions in the future.
Intended Output of the Project
The intended output of the project:
1.) To provide the forecasted numbers of teenage pregnancy cases by using mathematical methods and various graphs.
2.) To list down the factors that affect the increase cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines.
3.) To answer the question regarding which among the said factors are the most significant in the increase cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines.
These are the objectives of the study that I am to conduct. I requested for a data collection regarding the implementation of Sexual Education in the Philippines because this is one of the factors that affect teenage pregnancy in the country. I want to know whether or not by implementing this comprehensive sexuality education, does this truly have an effect on the spike of teenage pregnancy cases in the Philippines.
On behalf of myself and my university, I heartily express my gratitude for examining my request for data. I sincerely appreciate your time and understanding regarding this matter. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I am hoping that the DepEd will aid me to successfully be able to conduct my research paper.
I have also secured a formal request letter with affixed signatures from my College Thesis Professor and the College Math Dead Department.
Sincerely Yours,
Ivy A. Ramos
