30 July 2018 Dear Mr. Jose Paulo Pilar: You requested for statistical records on the following “The Number of Illegal Settlers in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.” Unfortunately, the DSWD does not have the information you need. Thus, we are constrained to deny your request. Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7160 (the Local Government Code) and Republic Act No. 7279 (the Urban Development and Housing Act), local government units (LGUs), with the help of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), are primarily in charge of dealing with and relocating illegal settlers. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the Dumaguete City LGU and/or the HUDCC, which may have the data you need. Very truly yours, Carlo Florendo C. Castro FOI Decision Maker
