Dear FOI,
Thank you for the instant response to my query.
The information I am requesting are the following:
1. Statistics of students in Region III from Kindergarten to Senior High School (Private and Public schools) SY 2019-2020
2. Number of school libraries (public and private) - both active and inactive
3. Activities conducted by school libraries – if there are available reports
4. Status of reading comprehension in elementary level (latest)
I am a graduate student in UP Diliman taking up Master of Library and Information Science, I am writing my thesis about creating standards and framework in buidling Barangay Reading Centers (BRC) and a possibility of making it as Community Literacy Center. Under RA 7743, every Barangay (Village) should have a BRC to support the information needs of the community but based on the latest report of the National Library of the Philippines on status of Philippine public libraries, there are only ___ BRCs out of ____ barangays in Region 3. This makes me interested to study this topic.
The information I am requesting will help me identify gaps that BRCs can fill in terms information dissemination, literacy, etc. These information will also support my study if there is really a need to establish BRCs in Central Luzon in the aspect of young children education.
This is only one of the many factors to consider in making this study accurate. I am also studying the population of Central Luzon, projects implemented and currently implementing in communities about reading, information literacy, and other young children learning development.
The intended output of this study is to have a standard and framework in building and sustaining Barangay Reading Centers that will support the needs of the community it will cater.
I hope you can help me gather needed information for my research. Thank you very much.
Regards
