Dear Verla Quirante,
Greetings!
Thank you for your request dated Oct 04, 2018 08:46:57 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
Your Request
You asked for the undersigned's Travel Expenses.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved. Information on travel is available in the Philippine Information Agency website which is accessible to the public at any time. However, in relation to expenses, these are submitted to the Commission on Audit (COA) on a regular basis. Should you require copies of the liquidation and expenses report, you might need to contact COA directly.
In relation to the information regarding frequent personal travels of the undersigned to his hometown, this has no basis.
My hometown is Baroy, Lanao del Norte, where I was born and raised and studied up to high school. If you review the travel report in the PIA website, you will see that there is a lot of official travel to Iligan City, Marawi City and Lanao del Sur and not in Baroy. These travels to the area are necessary because of my role as Head of the Information Management and Strategic Communications Support Group of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM), as designated by Secretary Martin Andanar and TFBM Chairperson Eduardo del Rosario. I oversee the work of personnel in Iligan and Marawi and attend to relevant meetings with TFBM, national government agencies, and local government units.
In addition, PIA did not have an office nor a team in Marawi and Lanao del Sur prior to the siege. Because of this function in TFBM, we organized a new team and opened a small office for this purpose which I directly oversee including program, organizational, financial, and administrative matters and therefore necessary that I go there on a regular basis given the extent of the work in Marawi.
