I am Paolo Gomez, an Industrial Engineering student at the University of the Philippines - Los Baños. I am writing to kindly request an updated list of MSMEs in the Philippines, containing their contact information. The information you provide will be instrumental in my thesis, which aims to explore the challenges faced by MSMEs in times of crises. The findings of the study will help develop policies and strategies that can effectively support MSMEs during health emergencies.

Dear Martin Paolo Gomez,
We refer to your letter of Sep 22, 2023 08:48:31 AM about your request under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch, for Request for the Latest DTI List of Establishments (MSMEs).
Relative to your request, please be informed that the registered business is different from the registered Business Name. On business name registration, we don't have list of "Registered Businesses", all we can provide is the list of registered BUSINESS NAMES for sole proprietors with the following information (Registration Date{Ex. Jan. 01, 2015}, Business Name {ABC FOOD CART}, Business Scope Address {REGION 1}, Scope Type{REGIONAL}). Other information such as owner's name and contact details are NOT included.
Upon generating your request, it will be based on the keywords that you will provide like: (Ex. All registered business names with words "WATER REFILLING STATION") If the said keyword/s is NOT part of their registered business name, it will NOT be included on the generated list.
Please be reminded that NOT all registered business names are operational since we are the first step in the process of business registration, and we don't know if they proceed to the next step to complete the process. Also, DTI Business Name registration is NOT A PERMIT or licensed to engage in any type of business since the permit to operate will be issued with the Business Permit and Licensing Office of the concerned LGU.
For a list of businesses under the partnership and corporations, you may inquire in Securities and Exchange Commissions.
And also kindly note that we cannot identify if a business name is classified as a Small, medium, or large business due to the reason that we don't require the capitalization of a business.
However, if you're looking for the actual list of operating businesses, you may inquire in the Business Permit and Licensing Office of the concerned LGU since they are the ones who issue a business permit to operate.
If you're still interested to proceed with your request for the list of BUSINESS NAMES, please provide the year coverage of your request and the nearest DTI office in your location where you are amenable to pay and pick up the said request. Also, fill out the attached FOI form.
