To whom it may concern,
I, Maria Irina Grace Maddara, am a student of BA Social Sciences, Major in Economics and Minor in Political Science, at the University of the Philippines Baguio. Together with my thesis partner, Legriv Vilee Marquez, we are requesting data from the Department of Education for the data set of the Regional Female Completion Rate of the Philippines from 2003 – 2015. The data will be used for the completion of our undergraduate thesis entitled “Socioeconomic Factors Affecting Life Expectancy and Mortality rates in the Philippines from 2003 – 2015”. Broadly speaking, the purpose of our study is to determine whether our chosen socioeconomic factors, which are income, education and income inequality, are significant determinants of life expectancy and mortality rates across the 17 regions of the Philippines from 2003 - 2015. The study will use regional female completion rate as a proxy for education, as it was proven in previous literature that the education of females is more significant in determining life expectancy and mortality rates.
