Dear Ms. Pancho,
This pertains to your query through the FOI portal regarding your proposed architecture capstone project on the redevelopment of Loboc Tarsier Conservation Area with the following requested information:
• Floor plans of Loboc Tarsier Conservation Area
• List of Tarsier Conservation Centers in the Philippines
• List of Tarsier Research Institute in the Philippines
• Architectural Design Guidelines for Tarsier Research Institute or Tarsier Conservation Centers
• Researcher/Organizations who studies Tarsier
In response to your queries, please be advised of the following:
• The Tarsier Conservation Area, situated in Barangay Upper Bonbon, Loboc, Bohol, is under the management of the Loboc Local Government Unit (LGU). For detailed information concerning the area, including floor plans and related data, you can request such information directly from the LGU office;
• Another conservation area for Philippine tarsiers is located in Corella, Bohol, a tarsier sanctuary dedicated to the preservation and scientific research of the endemic tarsier species in Bohol. This sanctuary was founded as part of collaboration between the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, Inc. (PFTI) and the DENR for the conservation of Tarsier. Further information about the conservation area can be coordinated with PFTI and/or DENR-CENRO Tagbilaran, Bohol;
• The University of the Philippines-Diliman-Institute of Biology lead by Dr. Mariano Roy Duya has recently conducted a study on Ecology and behavior of Philippine tarsiers in Mt. Matutum Protected Landscape Tarsier Sanctuary. Request for further information about the study can be coordinated with the institution through telephone number (02)-8-981-8500 loc. 3738;
• While there may not be formalized guidelines for architectural designs of Tarsier Conservation Centers, it is crucial to consider the following factors to uphold the welfare of tarsiers and enhance the visitor experience:
Preserve existing trees and vegetation within and around the center
Avoid excessive lighting that can disturb tarsiers' nocturnal behavior
Design viewing areas with unobtrusive barriers that offer clear visibility without stressing the tarsiers
Limit the number of visitors in viewing areas at any given time to reduce disturbance
Include educational exhibits and signage to inform visitors about tarsier behavior, conservation efforts, and the importance of protecting their natural habitat
Design interactive displays to engage visitors and raise awareness
Minimize noise pollution from infrastructure, visitors, and adjacent areas to maintain a quiet and stress-free environment for tarsiers.
Implement sustainable building practices, such as using eco-friendly materials, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient lighting, to reduce the center's environmental impact
If applicable, include facilities for researchers to study tarsiers and their behavior without disturbing them
Collaborate with the local community to incorporate their knowledge and traditions into the center's design and management
Thank you.

Respectfully,
