Your Request
You asked for Public Libraries' Information.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved.
1. The date of the closure or inactivity of the closed and inactive libraries;
- Currently, we do not have records on the date of closure or inactivity of the closed and inactive libraries. They are determined based on the following factors: Unable to submit the required up-to-date monthly report to NLP for a year or more, Unable to attend training and conferences conducted by NLP, Unable to claim book allocation resources for more than a year. During the conduct of face-to-face monitoring of selected affiliated public libraries, we were only notified on the closure of the library based on the actual monitoring and some of them don’t know the exact date of closure of the library.
2. The reasons of their closure or inactivity of the libraries are (1);
- Retirement of the in-charge of the library
- Change of local government unit / LCE / in the management and supervision of the library
- No allotted funds for the library
- No support from the local government unit
3. From which government body/agency/office does each library is getting the funding for maintenance, books acquisition;
- The funding of the library depends on which the library is under. They may fall under the Executive Branch (Governor or Mayor) or Legislative Branch (Vice-Governor or Vice-Mayor).
4. What services does each library provides and;
The top 5 most used library services
- Reference Services (providing assistance to clients both onsite and online)
- Digital Literacy (providing basic computer skills to senior citizens and young adults)
- E-Government Services (providing assistance to clients such as application of passport, birth certificate, and the like & utilization of Tech4Ed and Starbooks provided by DICT and DOST, respectively)
- Livelihood and Employment Services (providing services to clients such as printing, photocopying, and other related services in the processing of job application of clients
- Outreach Services (providing information literacy drive to remote communities, book donation drive to libraries which have few collections, etc.)
- Bookmobile Services (providing mobile library closer to the community for easier access of books especially the children and young adults)

If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
