Dear FOI Officers Beverly Berame/Grazielle Anne Sarical:
I would like to request information regarding the Physical Fitness Levels of Filipino Children and Adolescents.
More specifically, I need information on the following:
1) Muscular fitness: number of push-ups Filipino children and adolescents can do in 1min: by age and gender.
2) Muscular fitness: Number of sit-ups Filipino children and adolescents can do in 1min: by age and gender.
3) Flexibility of Filipino children and adolescents as measured using sit-and-reach test (in centimeters, if available): by age and gender.
4) Cardiovascular fitness of Filipino children and adolescents as measured using step test or similar measures: by age and gender.
5) Leg power of Filipino children and adolescents as measured using a standing long jump test (in centimeters, if available): by age and gender.
6) Balance of Filipino children and adolescents as measured using the flamingo/stork test (in seconds): by age and gender.
The purpose of this project is to assess the physical fitness levels of Filipino children and adolescents and inform the first Philippine Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth (https://www.activehealthykids.org/the-philippines/). Physical fitness is one of the 10 core physical activity indicators that are being assessed in the Report Card.
The intended outputs are 1) the Philippine Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, a communication and advocacy tool that uses existing published or unpublished surveillance data to show the extent to which a country is promoting and facilitating physical activity opportunities for children and youth, and 2) an academic paper reporting on the results of the Report Card (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jesf.2018.10.001).
I hope for your positive response regarding this request.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours,
