To Whom It May Concern:
Greetings!
I am Eloisa Abbygale Lau, a 5th-year architecture student from the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture. I am currently doing research for my undergraduate thesis, of which I am proposing an Alternate Education Institution in the city.
School design has been based on a model of "cells-and-bells" since we can remember; where learners occupy cell-like classrooms with lengthy hallways and their movements dictated by the sound of school bells. The shift to the "data era" of today requires a much flexible learning space to allow a wider range of teaching approaches. Furthermore, the population growth in our city has troubled the educational infrastructure of our cities. Unprecedented population growth has outpaced the capacity of existing and influx of traffic has limited community spaces for children. The growing demand for an educational facility and safe community space calls for a new approach to the design of a school. This project will be able to implement adjustments in the education sector, both system, and school design. A facility that envisions to promote quality education, growth, and experience through various learning spaces is highly needed.
The intended output includes a thesis book, conceptual development, plans, elevations, sections, and perspectives of the proposed structure.
To make the project feasible and as close to reality as possible, it shall be designed in an existing site in an urbanized city. Therefore, I would be needing some data that would be relevant to my proposal. In your kind office, may I request for information of the number of student school enrollees, I would appreciate it if the numbers were broken down, per school level (preschool, elemntary, hunior high, senior high, etc.); this is for the purpose of identifying the target number of student in my proposal, and the target number of respondents of my survey.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. For any queries, do not hesitate to contact me through my mobile number 0917 899 8470 or my email address at [email protected].
Hoping for your favorable response regarding this matter. Thank you and have a good day!

Education plays an important role in a society's development and advancement. It is one of the most important elements that can create or break the development of a culture. But today, quality education in our country is now very expensive that it prevents the overwhelming majority to benefit. In addition to that, as our cities continue to increase in density, so has the demand for schools; the population growth in our cities has troubled its educational infrastructure. Traditionally designed horizontally, schools are intended to provide room for learning and development. So as the population within our cities rises, land becomes more scarce, and fostering a learning atmosphere becomes a task. The growing demand for an educational facility and safe community space calls for a new approach to the design of a school. This proposal presents a vertical campus, as a new school typology, that will serve its students and reinforce the sense of community in the area. It will study the city’s current density and delve into what advantages a city school would bring. The proposal would be to combine kindergarten, elementary school and high school levels in order to enhance the current school system in the city to maximize the students’ experience in school through alternative learning environments.
