27 October 2020 Dear Ms. Neldine Santos, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated 24 October 2020 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request You requested information on the following for your architectural thesis: (1) Number of street children in captivity in Zamboanga City; and (2) Latest data about street children in Zamboanga City. Response to your request Unfortunately, the DSWD does not have the information you need. Thus, we are constrained to deny your request. For number (1), it is the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) that may have the data that you require. Under Republic Act 10630 (the “Juvenile Justice Welfare Act”), the JJWC oversees the implementation of the law. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the JJWC by submitting a request to them via this portal. You may also contact them by telephone at 921-0565 or via email at [email protected]. Further, the data might be available at the Philippine National Police (PNP), specifically the Women Children Protection Center (WCPC), since people report crimes, even those committed by children including heinous crimes, to the PNP directly. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PNP by submitting a request to the PNP via this portal. You may contact them by telephone at 8723-0401. For number (2), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) may have the data you require. Under Republic Act 10625 (the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”), the PSA is the government agency responsible for preparing and conducting periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PSA by submitting a request to the PSA via this portal. Furthermore, since you are asking for information specific to Zamboanga City, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Zamboanga City may also have the data you wish to obtain.
