Dear FOI Receiving Officers,
Thank you for accepting my request.
I am requesting information on the number of active Filipino-Chinese schools, which offer secondary education, in each region of the Philippines.
This information will be used in my research paper which aims to study the relationship between mathematics anxiety and mathematics performance in the Filipino-Chinese setting.
Here is a short abstract of my research paper (I had made separate request with tracking code #DepEd-459473935681 for the same research paper):
In the Philippines, Filipino-Chinese schools have a reputation for performing well in the area of mathematics. Previous research has shown that mathematics performance is negatively correlated with the level of mathematics anxiety. It may be possible that Filipino-Chinese students have lower math anxiety which contribute to better mathematics performance. The study will examine the relationship between math anxiety and math performance in a Filipino-Chinese setting. The study will also identify factors and possible solutions to mathematics anxiety. Data will be gathered from the Grade 7 students of a selected Filipino-Chinese school. Correlation and regression analysis will be used to describe the relationship between mathematics anxiety and math performance. Information on factors and solutions of mathematics anxiety will be collected through surveys and interviews.
It is expected that a low negative correlation will be found between and mathematics anxiety and mathematics performance; with culture being a strong predictor of mathematics anxiety. Studying the relationship between the Chinese culture and mathematics may provide insight on how overall mathematics education in the Philippines can be improved.
The information I receive will be used to determine what percentage of the whole Philippines my participants will fall under. Any information I receive will only be used for my research paper.
