12 March 2020 Dear Mr. Elimar Doran, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated 6 March 2020 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request You requested information on the following: (1) The latest number of Children in the Philippines as of December 2019; (2) Number of Children in Region II (Cagayan Valley); (3) The latest number of Children in the Philippines living and working in street; (4) The latest Number of CICL Cases in the Philippines; (5) Statistical Data of CICL cases in the Philippines and Cagayan Valley from the enactment of the law to present. Response to your request Unfortunately, the DSWD does not have the information you need. Thus, we are constrained to deny your request. It is the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) that may have the data you require for (1), (2) and (3). Under Republic Act 10625 (the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”), the PSA is the government agency responsible for preparing and conducting periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PSA by submitting a request to the PSA via this portal. You may also contact the PSA by telephone at 462-6600 locals 839, 833 and 834 or via email at [email protected]. For numbers (4) and (5), it is the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) that may have the data that you require. Under Republic Act 10630 (the “Juvenile Justice Welfare Act”), the JJWC oversees the implementation of the law. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the JJWC by submitting a request to them via this portal. You may also contact them by telephone at 921-0565 or via email at [email protected]. Furthermore, since you are asking for information specific to Region II, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Region II may also have the data you wish to obtain.
