Dear Maria Lourdes Daanoy,
Greetings!
Thank you for your request dated Oct 02, 2023 12:48:20 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
Your Request
You asked for Native Bee Complex.
Response to Request:
1. Implementing regulations and guidelines for Native Bee Research Center;
2. Biosafety and Quarantine Measures for a Bee Complex;
3. Site Selection Guidelines for Bee Research.
We would like to inform you that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) presently lacks specific guidelines for bee research centers. However, it's important to note that we do have a legal framework in place, the RA 9147, also known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001. Under this Act, any collection of wildlife from the wild and transportation without the appropriate permits is strictly prohibited.
In any case that you would require collection of samples from the wild, kindly coordinate with the nearest DENR Office in the area of your study site regarding this matter.
For information regarding biosafety and quarantine measures, as well as other relevant details related to beekeeping and bees in general, we recommend reaching out to the University of the Philippines Los Baños and the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI). Both of these institutions have experts in these field and established programs dedicated to beekeeping and can offer valuable guidance and insights on these aspects.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) provides training courses on beekeeping. TESDA boasts a team of experts in this field, and it would be beneficial to explore potential collaboration opportunities with them.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us through this email or landline 8925 8946.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
