Here's the draft of my research:
Objective: To understand the penetration of function/scientific calculators in low, medium, and high performing high schools
We need to get the stats for the following:
- Ranking in the latest achievement Test results – for public schools
- Ratio of winning in interschool competitions that are sanctioned by the regional/national Department of Education divisions – for both public and private schools
- Ratio of passing rate in top 4 universities (University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, and Dela Salle University
After we get the information, we will then need to conduct a survey with selected students, parents, and other DepEd officials to ask some information regarding NAT.

1. How many high schools took the latest national achievement test (2018 data or earlier if the former is not available)
a. High-Level Performing Schools – Top 33 Percentile
b. Mid-level Performing Schools – Mid 33 Percentile
c. Low-level Performing – Bottom 33 Percentile

Please be informed of the additional requirements you need to submit. To process your request, kindly submit the following documents to [email protected], stating your FOI request tracking code:
a. Letter specifying the purpose of the request and the data being requested (year administration, scope, variables);
a. School ID to show proof that you are enrolled in a higher education institution;
B. Copy of your approved thesis/dissertation proposal signed by your Adviser;
c. Endorsement letter signed by the school Dean.
Note that the Bureau of Education Assessment (BEA) can only release 10% of the actual number of examinees per year. Individual test results with names shall not be released unless the “data subject agrees to the collection and processing of personal information about and/or relating to him/her” per Section 3 of Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Additionally, a corresponding amount shall be charged by BEA for the processing of the data request.
