Greetings FOI Officers!
I am Jonathan Gonzales, an individual who intends to explore and study educational provision capabilities of schools in the Philippines.
I intend to study the topic using location data (geospatial data) of schools together with the projected population of per area in the following years. This might help us proactively pinpoint areas foreseen to lack sufficient capacity to accommodate students. In this research I will be using GIS tools to prepare the data, and programming to carefully study the cleaned data.
I formally request the following data for this research:
1.) Nationwide location data of primary and secondary schools as of 2021. Location data could be in the form of coordinates (latitude and longitude) or their complete addresses.
DepEd has already published its masterlist of schools, however, addresses of significant number of schools are either truncated or not available.
2.) Level of education being offered for each school (primary, secondary, or both)
This is intended to be used in aggregation of data in the research, comparing the capacities for each category.
3.) Capacity of schools (number of students the school is capable of accommodating).
This will be the key data as this will strongly influence the output of the research.
I intend to publish the research on the GitHub platform (https://github.com/) in the form of coding notebook.
I am hoping this project would materialize with your help.
Thank you.
