Good Day! I am writing to you as a fifth-year BS Architecture student from De la Salle University - Dasmarinas. For this term, I am taking up Architectural Thesis and would appreciate your assistance in gathering data for my thesis proposal, "School for the Blind: A Proposed Primary and Secondary Educational Institution," which aims to contribute to plans to increase the number of schools for the visually impaired in the Philippines.
Over the years, research in child development, sociology, and special education has concluded that blind children thrive, prosper, and attain higher self- and social fulfillment when raised in the least restrictive setting. Through local schooling supplemented by well-trained professionals in the education of the blind, these children can enjoy the ordinary everyday experiences necessary for forming a vivid worldview.
As a result, the proposal establishes the following project objectives:
- To design a barrier-free facility for blind and visually impaired children to explore the built environment and experience it, as well as a place to adapt to extreme situations by providing a simple and free circulation inside the structure so that movement is easy and unobtrusive to the students and the faculty.
- To be able to contribute to plans to strengthen the number of schools for the visually impaired by developing architectural design solutions for a multi-sensory structure that will benefit children in classrooms and other learning environments.
- To achieve an innovative, holistic design solution for the benefit of physical and mental development while valuing independence by designing interactive spaces, tactile walls or pavement, and water features throughout the school that will allow visually impaired visitors to explore independently without requiring full personal assistance.
Considering this, I would want to request information/data about the Latest Statistics number of Visually Impaired Students in CALABARZON Region 4A.
This data will assist me in building architectural solutions for my proposal. Your cooperation in guiding and giving the required data would not only imply support for my idea but also support the development of accessibility in schools for the visually impaired. In addition, your response would be very appreciated. Rest assured that all information and data provided by your office will be kept strictly private and used solely for academic reasons.
