To whom it may concern, I would like to inquire about: 1. If University of the People, an online american accredited university is recognized in the Philippines? 2. Currently, I am student of UoPeople taking BS Business Administration. If i graduate in this University, will CHED recognise my degree? Thank you.

July 27, 2021 Dear Audrianne Ribano, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated Jul 21, 2021 09:47:53 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Please be informed that the Commission recognizes foreign higher education institutions as long as the same are duly recognized by their respective ministry of higher education or authorized agency. Upon verification, the University of the People in Pasadena, CA, USA, is duly accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is a National Career-Related Accrediting Organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the US Department of Education (USDE). However, may we note that this does not mean that the degree awarded by said institution will be automatically recognized as equivalent to a degree offered in the Philippines. The degree earned will undergo evaluation by the CHED Office of Programs and Standards Development upon compliance with requirements for issuance of Certificate of Equivalency. Said certificate will indicate that the program you have undertaken from the University of the People is equivalent to a degree offered in the Philippine higher education institutions.
