June 22, 2020 Dear Mr. Delgado, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated June 8, 2020 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request You requested for the data on the following topic: “Income cluster demographic of the Philippines: a.) The income cluster where each barangay belongs. If by barangay is not possible, by city, please; and b) Years 2017 to 2019.” Response to your request While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, this Office does not produce the data you have requested. PIDS makes use of administrative data from other agencies for its research studies. However, you may want to get in touch directly with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to request for a copy of the public use file of their surveys (e.g. Family Income and Expenditure Survey and Annual Poverty Indicators Survey), which can be used as basis to compute for the population shares or distribution by income cluster or income class (per barangay or per city/municipality). In case you are interested in income classifications by city/municipality, you may want to look at the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) publication, which is available at the PSA website (https://psa.gov.ph/classification/psgc/). Aside from the PSA, income classification by city/municipality is also downloadable in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index under the Department of Trade and Industry website (https://cmci.dti.gov.ph/). Moreover, you may want to look at the following PIDS publications that are related to the data set that you are requesting: • PN No. 2018-18: Defining and profiling the middle class (https://pidswebs.pids.gov.ph/CDN/PUBLICATIONS/pidspn1818.pdf) • DP No. 2018-20: Profile and Determinants of the Middle-Income Class in the Philippines (https://pidswebs.pids.gov.ph/CDN/PUBLICATIONS/pidsdps1820.pdf) Kindly check other PIDS publications that are available on our website (link here: https://www.pids.gov.ph/publications).
