February 4, 2021 Dear JON RICK ARIZOBAL, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated Feb 02, 2021 08:55:06 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your Request You asked for Income Classification. Response to Request In this regard, please be informed that the DOF has ceased from issuing a new set of income ranges for purposes of income re-classification, in view of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Opinion No. 68 s.2012, dated 12 September 2012, which clarified that the authority of the Secretary of Finance is limited only to the conduct of regular re-classification of local government units (LGUs) and does not include the authority to update or adjust the income brackets or ranges used for the purpose. However, we wish to apprise you that the legislative proposals on LGU income classification have been re-filed in the 18th Congress by Senator Panfilo M. Lacson as Senate Bill No. 251 and by Congressman Francis Gerald Abaya as House Bill No. 653. Your right to request a review If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to [email protected]. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date when we receive your review request. If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011). Thank you.
