Rationale:
According to Guzman (2015), Education greatly affects the country's development. It also affects the people's productivity in the community. Education helps the people to determine and to vote the right individual to make a difference in the country. Moreover, education helps the unemployment rate of the country at low, which greatly impacts the growth of the country. Education also affects the social etiquette and moral standards in the community that helps the socio-economic and law and order sector of the government (Guzman, 2015). Because of the lack of education in the Badjao community, this creates an image that they have low moral standards and etiquettes for the modern society. Even the lack of basic education (read and write), affects their rights to vote that can help to make a difference in their issues like proper housing and poverty.
According to BP 232/Education Act of 1982 - The Education Act of the Philippines recognizes the right of all people to quality education “regardless of sex, age, breed, socio-economic status, physical and mental condition, social and ethnic origin, political, and other affiliations”. The DepEd chief secretary Armin Luistro emphasizes priority in education because “education is the greatest equalizer one society needs. An informed society will be eventually liberated from the long-term problems that have been haunting the nation” (Department of Education, 2010); unfortunately, this law seems not to affect the badjao minorities for they still experience discriminations in public school that makes them discard the importance of education, even though some of them wants to have proper education to help their families in terms of their financial deficiencies.
The conduct of this study may supplement the community’s difficulty in terms of maintaining the out-of-school children to continue or pursue their education and to be able them to cope with the norm and progression of the modern world and that may help them alleviate from their recurring poverty.
This proposal may formulate solution/s that is culturally responsive quality education, through the intervention of architectural sciences and the use of passive design strategies in the learning environment to improve their learning capability.
Lastly, any information valuable to my research is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
