05 January 2023 Ref. No.: FRO-2023-0105-01 Dear Mr. Durohom, This refers to your request under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information (FOI) in the Executive Branch which we received on 05 January 2023, through the eFOI portal (www.foi.gov.ph) with Ticket Reference No. #TAPI-929228888669. In your FOI request, you are requesting for the following information relevant to the DOST Solar Powered Fish Dryer which you found on the Department of Science and Technology website (article was published on DOST website on 23 November 2015): 1. Dimensions of the machine; and 2. What kind of heat transfer was used (convection or induction or other). The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 128 on 30 January 1987 and is one of DOST's service agencies whose primary responsibility is to promote the commercialization of technologies and market the services of other operating units of the Department. On 28 April 1992, DOST-TAPI's function was expanded by virtue of Republic Act No. 7459, otherwise known as the "Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines". Among others, DOST-TAPI administers the Invention Development Assistance Fund (IDAF) for the initial experiments and prototype development and other invention-development related activities. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance this Office does not have the information you have requested. We shall refer your request to the Batangas State University since the article mentioned that their “mechanical engineering department designed the fish dryer.” Alternatively, you may also wish to contact DOST Regional Office No. IV-A (DOST IV-A) as they have provided the financial assistance for the said project: MS.
