Good day! I'm working on a report on child abandonment cases in the city and province of Iloilo for Daily Guardian, a local newspaper based in Iloilo City. To satisfy the content of my report, I wish to request for the following data: 1. Data on child abandonment in Iloilo City and Iloilo province in 2019 2. Data on child abandonment in Iloilo City and Iloilo province as of December 31, 2020 3. 26 February 2021 Dear Mr. Joseph Bernard Marzan, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated 15 February 2021 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request You requested information on the following from 2019 - 2020 for a news report in Daily Guardian (Iloilo City): (1) Data on child abandonment in Iloilo City and Iloilo province in 2019; (2) Data on child abandonment in Iloilo City and Iloilo province as of December 31, 2020; and (3) Current and former programs of the DSWD Region VI in relative to child abandonment. Response to your request Unfortunately, the DSWD has limited data on numbers (1) and (2), we only have data with respect to those we have processed and those under our centers and institutions in Iloilo. We have data on number (3). Thus, the DSWD can only partially grant your request and we shall refer your request with respect to this matter to the proper DSWD offices. For complete data for numbers (1) and (2), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) may have the data you require. Under Republic Act 10625 (the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”), the PSA is the government agency responsible for preparing and conducting periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PSA by submitting a request to the PSA via this portal. You may also contact the PSA by telephone at 462-6600 locals 839, 833 and 834 or via email at [email protected].
