Your Request
You asked for Construction of New Clark City and its sports facilities for the 2019 ASEAN Games.
Response to Request
1. Status of the construction of the New Clark City and its sports facilities for the 2019 SEA Games
§ The construction of Phase 1A (40 hectares) of the New Clark City National Government Administrative Center is 98-percent complete. This includes world-class sports facilities which are ready for this year’s 30th South East Asian (SEA) Games built in just 18 months.
2. List of all construction projects in the New Clark City.
§ Athletics Stadium
§ Aquatics Center
§ Athletes’ Village
§ A 1.4-km River Park Corridor is also being developed to provide a green recreational space.
§ The Residences which will serve as a housing facility for government workers
§ Integrated Disaster Response Operations Center which will be important for the anticipated back-up offices of government agencies
3. List of all sports facilities being constructed for the 2019 SEA Games.
The sports facilities which will be used for this year’s SEA Games are the following:
o A 20,000-seater Athletics Stadium which features a nine-lane world-class track and field and an indoor track with gym equipment. The stadium meets the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
o A 2,000-seater Aquatics Center which has a 10-lane competition pool, eight-lane training pool, and a diving pool with a five-meter maximum depth. National swimmers who competed in the 1st Philippine National Open Swimming Championships organized by the Philippine Swimming Inc. held last month said the competition pool was a “fast pool,” which can have positive impact on the performance of the athletes.
o A warm-up track oval which was praised by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) officials as a big improvement from the training facilities of the track and field athletes.
o Athletes’ Village complete with housing amenities for national athletes.
4. List of contractors, if there are, constructing the New Clark City and sports facilities for the 2019 SEA Games.
§ BCDA has partnered with MTD Clark, Inc., a subsidiary of MTD Capital Berhad of Malaysia, in the construction of the SEA-Games ready sports facilities in New Clark City.
5. Data on the number of hectares used for the construction of the New Clark City and its sports facilities.
§ New Clark City is a 9,450-hectare development located in Capas, Tarlac. Out of the said development, only 3,500 hectares are buildable, leaving 6,000 hectares or 60% of green and open spaces for upland farming and forest reserves.
§ Phase 1 of the development include the construction of the National Government Administrative Center which is 60 hectares. At present, Phase 1A which is 40 hectares, is 98-percent complete. The remaining 20 hectares which is part of Phase 1B shall include construction of additional government office buildings and other commercial facilities.
