Hi! I'm a dual citizen (Filipino and American). I need to renew my Philippines passport and one of the requirements is a true and certified copy of oath of allegiance. How do I do this and what are the requirements?
November 12, 2022 Dear Rowena, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated Nov 07, 2022 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request You asked for Certified and true copy of oath of allegiance. Response to your request While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance this Office does not have the information you have requested if you applied in Philippine Embassy. However, you may wish to contact Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at dfa.gov.ph and for the request for an appointment relative to your request for a copy of your Oath of Allegiance if you applied abroad. We are respectfully extending our apologies because query and/or request is not within the Bureau’s jurisdiction. Moreover, we would need for you to personally file and request for your request for the Certified True Copy of Oath of Allegiance at BI Main Office if your applied for in the BI Main Office (Philippines). Your requested document consists of personal information that is protected under the Data Privacy Act 2012, comprehensive and strict privacy legislation “to protect the fundamental human right of privacy, of communication while ensuring free flow of information to promote innovation and growth.” Other ways are to authorize someone with Special Power of Attorney or with court order. Your right to request a review If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to the BI Commissioner, NORMAN G. TANSINGCO, Bureau of Immigration, Magallanes Drive, Intramuros, Manila. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter.
