Good morning, I am doing a comparative study on the Skills gap our country is facing and how a change in education could reduce (or eliminate) the gap completely. I'd need your help with the following: 1) Annual number of registered OFWs from 2000 - 2017 2) What industries are those OFWs working for (ex. Domestic Help, Medical, etc) 3) Average wages (if available). I want to compare if the wage is similar then why work abroad. I appreciate your help.
February 26, 2018 Dear Marlon, Greetings! Thank you for your request dated Feb 24, 2018 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch. Your request 1) Annual number of registered OFWs from 2000 - 2017 2) What industries are those OFWs working for (ex. Domestic Help, Medical, etc) 3) Average wages (if available). I want to compare if the wage is similar then why work abroad. Response to your request We were able to determine that SOME of the information you requested is already available online and therefore cannot be counted as a valid FOI request. However. we do not have the average wages of OFWs and the 2016 and 2017 stats are not yet available. You may retrieve your requested information from http://www.poea.gov.ph/ofwstat/ofwstat.html. Your right to request a review If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date when we receive your review request. If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011). Thank you.
