I respectfully seek clarification regarding the utilization of 5 GHz band for amateur radio operations. The frequency range 5.65-5.85 GHz has been allocated for secondary use by the amateur radio service, specifically for data transmission. Additionally, this frequency range falls under the unprotected frequency allocations for HIPERLANs, RLANs, and WDNs as primary users. Our amateur radio club intends to utilize this allocation to establish point-to-point amateur radio communications for linking amateur radio repeaters. Notably commercially-available type-approved radios operating in the 5 GHz spectrum also cover the designated amateur radio band. We respectfully seek confirmation on whether we may purchase, register, use, and operate such equipment for amateur radio backhaul purposes within the allocated 5 GHz spectrum.
