You request a rule prohibiting the use of personal Facebook Messenger as a mode of communication in the office.
Response to your request
We understand that you are requesting for an issuance of the NPC prohibiting the use of personal Facebook Messenger as a mode of office communication.
Please be advised that the mandate of the NPC is to administer and implement the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and to monitor and ensure compliance of the country with international standards set for data protection.
In response to your request, please be informed that the NPC does not have any issuance prohibiting the use of personal Facebook Messenger as a mode of communication in the office. Neither is there any NPC issuance prohibiting the use of Viber for said purpose.
Your right to request a review
If you are dissatisfied with our response to your FOI request, you have the option to request an internal review. To initiate this process, kindly submit your written appeal for review addressed to Privacy Commissioner and Chairman Atty. John Henry D. Naga at [email protected]. Please provide a detailed explanation of your dissatisfaction with our response within 15 calendar days from the date of receiving this response. We will conduct the review and communicate the outcome within 30 calendar days from the receipt of your review request.
Should you remain unsatisfied with the review outcome, you retain the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
