Purpose: Research and Extension - Negros Oriental State University
Tracking no: #DENRNAMRIA-418010123403
Dear NAMRIA, Greetings from the NORSU Physics and Geology Department! In line with our university's mandate under RA 9299 and in preparation for the integration of the Negros Island Region, the Physics and Geology Department, in collaboration with the Biology, Mathematics, and Chemistry Departments, is undertaking a research-based extension project titled "Integrated Risk Assessment and Adoptive Strategies for Community and Ecosystem Resilience: A GeoClimatic Initiative for Mabinay, Negros Oriental." This program comprises three interconnected projects aimed at assessing the impact of geological, geohazard, and hydrometeorological risks on the environment, communities, and biodiversity in key areas of the region. The study seeks to enhance disaster preparedness and estimate potential losses in the event of natural disasters, thereby supporting long-term resilience strategies for the Negros Island Region. To support the GIS-based model critical to our analysis, we kindly request access to the 5-meter resolution Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) data for Negros Island. This high-resolution spatial data is essential as baseline information for our vulnerability and risk assessments. We assure you that all the data provided will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and used strictly for the purpose stated. Additionally, NAMRA will be duly acknowledged in all outputs and publications arising from this extension project. We sincerely hope for your favorable response to this request. Thank you very much for your time and support. Sincerely, Michael Vincent T. Tubog, M.Sc. Geologist Physics and Geology Department
