MS. YASMINE R. MONDOY
Academic Thesis Student
Dela Paz, Pasig City
Dear Ms. Mondoy:
This refers to your request for information regarding your architecture thesis proposal.
For your inquiries on space guidelines and design requirements of laboratories, we recommend contacting the National Training Center for Biosafety and Biosecurity (NTCBB) via email address, [email protected]. Their expertise in biological laboratory design makes them well-suited to provide detailed and accurate information on laboratory layout, and safety standards.
Our Bureau has encountered several architectural and structural challenges, including outdated infrastructure, limited ventilation systems, and space constraints. These issues have somehow affected the efficiency and safety of our facilities, leading to periodic improvements and upgrades to maintain safety and functionality.
ERDB faces challenges such as limited funding, procurement delays due to unavoidable circumstances, and the need to keep safety protocols current while adapting to an evolving research agenda. Ensuring compliance with national and international standards while accommodating technological advancements remains a continuous effort. We adhere to stringent national and international safety guidelines concerning laboratory design, hazardous materials handling, and routine safety audits to maintain a secure research environment.
ERDB features specialized laboratories focused on environmental research, biodiversity studies, and ecosystem monitoring. These facilities are now equipped with essential tools for sample processing and data collection, supported by administrative offices, meeting rooms, and storage areas to enhance research capabilities.
For further information and assistance, please coordinate with Dr. Marilyn Q. Lalican, Chief of the Laboratory and Experimental Services Division (LESD), and Mr. Rejaynil M. Valdez, OIC-Chief, Laboratory Service Section (LSS) via electronic mail at [email protected].
