Good day! We are students from Angeles University Foundation conducting research on carrot pomace, with experimentation scheduled to take place this academic year. We would like to inquire if your office offers in-person plant authentication services, as it is critical for us to verify that the carrot variety is from the Philippines. We plan to source the carrots from a local market, and this verification is essential before we can proceed. Could you kindly provide information on the cost of the service, the process involved, and how long it will take? Additionally, do we need to schedule an appointment before visiting the BPI San Fernando Branch, and what are the requirements for the authentication? Given the timeline for our research, we would greatly appreciate your prompt response. Thank you.

Hi,

The Crop Research and Production Support Division of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) issues certificates on the identification, authentication, and verification of FOOD AGRICULTURAL CROPS based on available data/ resources – FREE OF CHARGE, via online or onsite.

Documents required (Onsite):

  1. Request letter addressed to the BPI Director, Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, PhD indicating the purpose of identification and certification (Original + 1 copy)

(FOR STUDENTS - IN SCHOOL’S LETTERHEAD, SIGNED BY THE STUDENT AND ADVISER)

  1. Clear, colored printed photo of plant/specimen in a coupon bond (2 COPIES)
  2. Actual Plant/Specimen (complete parts of the plant as possible)
  3. Duly filled out Application form. (Available at the CRPSD Office)

Our office is open M-F/ 8AM-5PM (except holidays). Processing usually takes 3-5 working days. CRPSD may send the Certificate of Identification to the requesting party.

Documents required (Online request) – Please e-mail the following requirements to [email protected]

Once approved and endorsed, CRPSD will send the Application form and will contact you for any clarification on your specimen or request. Processing usually takes 3-5 working days.

You may also check with DA RFO III. BPI office in Reg.3 does not conduct plant ID.
