This pertains to your letter regarding age waiver coursed through the Office of the President of the Philippines, Presidential Communications Office dated January 6, 2024.
We acknowledge your interest in joining the BJMP. Please be informed that the recruitment and screening of Jail Officer 1 (JO1) applicants is guided by RA No. 9263, otherwise known as the "Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Professionalization Act of 2004," and Section 1 of RA No. 9592, which provides that JO1 applicants must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than thirty (30) years of age. However, an age waiver may be granted by the Chief, BJMP until thirty-five (35) years old upon the recommendation of the National Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board/Regional Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (NHRMPSB/RHRMPSB), provided that he/she possesses any redeeming qualifications, professional competence or skills, such as but not limited to the following:
