Dear eFOI user,
Thank you for your request dated today, made under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
You have requested the Visa Application requirement.
The Philippine Immigration Act provides that an alien individual who seeks employment in the Philippines shall comply with the requirement of securing a visa under Section 9 (g) of CA 613. He or she may obtain an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) or Certificate of Exemption, as the case may be, from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The AEP or Certificate of Exemption is a mandatory requisite for the issuance of a Sec. 9 (g) visa. Such requirement is applicable to foreign nationals with confirmed employment offer from a Philippine company or a company doing business in the Philippines. However, legitimate spouse of a Diplomatic official who desires to work in the Philippines may be exempted from securing employment permit provided that there is an existing reciprocity agreement between the Philippine Government and their respective countries of origin.[1]
Questions as to whether your country of Origin has an existing reciprocity agreement with the Government of the Philippines may be addressed to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
If you need to apply for 9(g) visa, we advise that you proceed to the Bureau of Immigration main office for appropriate action.
