With regards to the status of implementation of the Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) No. 266 series of 2020, we would like to inform that based on your inquiry, A Memorandum was issued by the Executive Secretary dated June 23, 2023 directing the DA and BFAR to implement FAO 266 nationwide, excluding fishing operators which have been granted injunctive relief by the courts, subject to applicable rules and regulations.
In accordance with the memorandum, the Bureau has resumed the installation of VMS transceivers to Philippine-flagged commercial fishing vessels, excluding fishing operators which have been granted injunctive relief.
Additionally, the Bureau has initiated several administrative cases against fishing vessels that engage in fishing activities without adhering to the vessel monitoring requirements and electronic reporting system mandated by FAO 266
