1. Aquaponics farm laws and building standards.
- Building Standards for aquaponics farms must be in accordance with the Clause 3 (Siting and Design) of the PNS/BAFS 135:2014 (Code of GAqP). For the design of the aquaponics units there are various design developed by different BFAR RFO’s (please see the attached National Urban Aquaponics IEC)
2. Guidelines for setting up and operating aquaponics farms.
- The Guidelines for setting up and operating of aquaponics farms are based under the BAFS Philippine National Standards (PNS) 389:2024 Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture (UPA) — Code of Practice (COP) — Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) clause 8.2 aquaponics (please see the attached PNS for further information)
3. Types of fish that can be harvested in aquaponics farms.
- Tilapia and catfish are the primary commodities cultured in aquaponics units. Carps, Goldfish, and other ornamental fishes are also cultured in aquaponics units in some places. (please see the attached National Urban Aquaponics IEC for further information)
