Dear eFOI user,

Thank you for your request dated 27 January 2025 under Executive Order No. 2, Series of 2016, on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

The AMLC does not keep a database of politically-exposed persons (PEPs).

The Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 9160, otherwise known as the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001, as amended (AMLA) defines who is a PEP.  A PEP is an individual who is or has been entrusted with prominent public position in (a) the Philippines with substantial authority over policy, operations for use or allocation of government-owned resources; (b) a foreign state; or (c) an international organization. Rule 19, Section 1 of the IRR AMLA also leave the duty of establishing and recording the true and full identity of PEPs to the covered persons. Thus, the AMLC does not keep a database of PEPs.

Further, please note that any information received or processed by the AMLC, in relation to PEPs, is confidential by virtue of Section 8-A of the AMLA.
