About this agency

The DAP is a government owned and controlled corporation established in 1973 was created by virtue of Presidential Decree 205 dated June 7, 1973 providing its original charter to promote and support the developmental efforts of the country by carrying out human resource development programs designed to instill development perspectives and advanced management capability in the leadership of key sectors of government and the economy, as well as research, analysis and publication of programs of depth and quality to service the requirements of development planning, management and implementation at both the macro and project levels. Presidential Decree No. 1061, dated December 9, 1976, which included an additional member in the DAP Board of Trustees to adapt to the expanding role of DAP. Further, Executive Order 288, dated July 25, 1987, reorganized the DAP Board of Trustees into its present composition as well as the establishment of an Executive Committee to be made up of the President and other members to be elected by the Board of Trustees from its present membership. The DAP fulfills its mandate through its core competencies in training and education, technical assistance, consulting, and strategic research and studies. Based on its charter, the DAP is mandated to: 1. To foster and support the development forces at work in the nations economy through selective human resources development programs, research, data collection, and information services, to the end that optimization of wealth may be achieved in a manner congruent with the maximization of public security and welfare; 2. To promote, carry on and conduct scientific, inter disciplinary and policy oriented research, education, training, consultancy, and publication in the broad fields of economics, public administration, and the political and social sciences, generally, involving the study, determination, interpretation, and publication of economic, political, and social facts and principles bearing upon development problems of local, national, or international significance; and, 3. To discharge a regional role in initiating and catalyzing exchange of ideas and expertise on development activities in the region of Asia and the Pacific.
